Bacchus is located on the edge of Antwerp's Eilandje, in a building that has stood for nearly 120 years and for a long time held the title of 't Eilandje's oldest café. Since the takeover by chef Michiel Daeseleire in 2020, the former traditional pub has grown into a full-fledged restaurant-brasserie, respecting the neighborhood's rich maritime history. Vintage coziness, French chansons, and a French-Belgian cuisine with seasonal specials form the backdrop—an approach that was recently crowned with a first mention in Gault&Millau. If you are lucky, you will be welcomed at the door by Maurice, the brown Labrador and unofficial mascot of the house.
But Bacchus is more than a restaurant. The establishment rests on four pillars: the brasserie on Napelsstraat, Bacchus Catering for corporate and private events, Bacchus On Wheels featuring two food trucks, and its own production studio on Noorderlaan, the logistical engine behind every event.
For event professionals, the catering branch is particularly interesting. Bacchus provides receptions, walking dinners, seated dinners, after-work events, networking events, corporate lunches, and staff parties, ranging from finger food to BBQ Fine Dining served live from the food truck, with the Oklahoma Joe smoker serving as a culinary eye-catcher. The team delivers the total experience: custom menus, drinks, professional front-of-house and kitchen staff, equipment, and decoration.
