Located in the heart of Europe, the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium is Lille area’s new destination for major sporting (football, rugby, basketball, tennis, handball, etc.) and cultural (concerts, shows, etc.) events. But the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium is also the perfect venue for all things MICE. Olivier Wauters from Eventonline had a chat with Julien Rongier, responsible for marketing, events, communication, ticketing and MICE at the stadium.
“The Pierre-Mauroy Stadium is the first Stadium in Europe with a retractable roof and retractable pitch, so we can host events all year round”, explains Julien Rongier. “It is a 50,000 seat capacity stadium with a roof that can transform itself into a 25.000 seat capacity arena for a Rihana concert, Davis Cup tennis match, etc. Since two years, we are the most occupied stadium in France regarding events. We host around forty events per year, including of course home games of our tenant team, LOSC LILLE. Besides football we host some 10 to 15 big events like motorsport, music concerts or other sporting events.”
Next to football and big concerts, the Stadium also hosts corporate MICE events. “Year round we have an average of 150 events per year, from a direction board lunch of twelve people in a skybox with a stadium view, to employment fairs up to 8,000 participants during several days. We can even privatize the arena. We are able to host between 10 and 25,000 persons”, says Julien Rongier.
