At the world famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice you will find the ‘Radisson Blu Hotel Nice’. Olivier Wauters recently had a chat with Eric Van Dalsum, the General Manager of this beautiful hotel. Eric Van Dalsum is from Dutch origin. Since February 2013 he runs the Radisson Blu Hotel on the French Riviera. Previously, he worked in Belgium and also in Dublin.
“Radisson Blu Hotel is the largest hotel in Nice with 331 rooms of which 119 offer a fantastic view on the ‘Baie des Anges’. We also have a dozen conference rooms that are ideal for incentives and seminars. Our largest meeting room can comfortably host 200 to 250 persons. Due to the number of available rooms this is a perfect match,” the hotel manager says. “We can also accommodate all clients for a seminar request in our hotel due the number of available rooms.”
The hotel boasts a strategic location. “We are relatively close to the airport. Although we are not located in the center of town, we are hardly ten minutes away by car or half an hour walking along the beautiful Promenade des Anglais.”
The hotel offers a number of convenient facilities that can add value to the organization of MICE activities. “We have a lovely rooftop terrace where we currently are building a new restaurant with 130 seats. Consequently, we have the opportunity to provide meals for groups that meet there,” Eric Van Dalsum explains. “We also have the largest swimming pool of Nice, i.e. 150m2 of pool area. The pool is also located on the roof including a cocktail pool bar. On the ground floor you can find restaurant ‘223’ with seating for up to 200 people where we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
The Radisson Blu Hotel Nice is open all year round. There are also many seminars that take place in the first quarter of the year when the tourist season has not yet begun. Also, many seminars are organized in the period from September to November. “These are ideal months because the tourist season still has not yet started, the prices are very competitive and the sun already shines,” the GM points out.
Furthermore, Nice is easily accessible by air. In the busiest season there are four daily flights from Brussels Airlines and some with EasyJet. But the hotel also has its own car park with parking space for 140 cars.
Radisson Blu Nice also has its own private beach that opens from Easter. “The beach is right outside the hotel,” said the GM. “It’s a great beach where we can serve meals to 400 people, there are 200 beach chairs available and there is a restaurant with 110 seats, which can also be privatized for events. Seminars often take several days and then, a cocktail or a meal at the beach is a nice alternative.”
Meanwhile, the hotel is being renovated in different phases. “The sixth and seventh floors will be finished by Easter. By the end of the year, two more floors will follow while the last three will be progressed in 2018,” Eric Van Dalsum adds.
“We strongly believe in the MICE industry. It is a center of attention for the future, which is why we invest in our rooms to keep them up to date.” The city of Nice also invests in the MICE sector. There are plans to build a new convention center. “Nice is looking ahead,” says the GM. “There are also plans for a tramway from the airport to the city center. That’s important for us as a hotel,” Eric Van Dalsum ends.

GM Radisson Blu Hotel Nice: We geloven sterk in MICE
Aan de wereldberoemde ‘Promenade des Anglais’ in Nice vind je het Radisson Blu Hotel, Nice. Olivier Wauters had onlangs een gesprek met Eric Van Dalsum, GM van dit fraaie hotel. Eric Van Dalsum is Nederlander van origine en is sinds februari 2013 de grote baas in dit Radisson Blu Hotel aan de Franse Riviera. Voorheen was hij een hele tijd aan de slag in België en ook nog in Dublin.
“Radisson Blu Hotel is het grootste hotel van Nice met 331 kamers waarvan er 189 een fantastisch panorama bieden op de ‘Baie des Anges’. We beschikken tevens over een tiental conferentiezalen die zeer geschikt zijn voor incentives en seminaries. Onze grote zaal kan comfortabel 200 à 250 personen aan. Door het aantal beschikbare kamers is dat een perfecte match”, aldus de hoteldirecteur. “Alle klanten voor een seminarieaanvraag kunnen we door het volume van kamers dan ook in ons hotel herbergen.”
Het hotel geniet tevens van een gunstige ligging. “We liggen relatief dicht bij de luchthaven. We bevinden ons niet in het centrum van de stad, maar toch niet veraf, zo’n tien minuten met de auto of een half uurtje stappen langs de mooie Promenade des Anglais.”
Het hotel biedt een aantal aangename faciliteiten die een meerwaarde kunnen betekenen bij de organisatie van een MICE-activiteit. “We hebben een schitterend dakterras waar we nu op dit moment een nieuw restaurant bouwen met 130 couverts. Bijgevolg hebben we daar ook de gelegenheid om maaltijden aan te bieden voor de groepen die er vergaderen”, aldus Eric Van Dalsum. “We beschikken bovendien over het grootse zwembad van Nice, m.n. 150m2 zwembadoppervlakte. Het zwembad bevindt zich ook op het dak met een cocktail poolbar. Op de begane grond vind je restaurant ‘223’ waar we naast andere maaltijden tevens het ontbijt serveren, inclusief met terras voor groepen tot 200 personen.”
Het Radisson Blu Hotel Nice is het ganse jaar open. Er vinden dan ook heel veel seminaries plaats tijdens het eerste kwartaal wanneer het toeristische seizoen nog niet is begonnen. Ook in de periode van september tot november worden er veel seminaries georganiseerd. “Dat zijn ideale maanden omdat het toeristische seizoen dan nog niet is gestart, de prijzen zeer competitief zijn en het zonnetje reeds schijnt”, beaamt de GM.
Bovendien is Nice goed bereikbaar via het luchtverkeer. In het hoogseizoen zijn er vier dagelijkse vluchten via Brussels Airlines en ook enkele met EasyJet. Maar het hotel heeft ook een eigen parkeergarage met plaats voor 140 wagens.
Radisson Blu Nice beschikt tevens over een eigen privé-strand, ‘Régence Plage’ dat opent vanaf Pasen. “Het strand bevindt zich pal voor het hotel”, aldus de GM. “Het is een geweldig strand waar we tot 400 mensen maaltijden kunnen serveren, er zijn 200 strandstoelen ter beschikking en er is een restaurant met 110 plaatsen, wat we ook kunnen privatiseren voor events. Vaak duren seminaries enkele dagen en dan kan daar bijvoorbeeld een cocktail plaatsvinden of een maaltijd worden georganiseerd.”
Ondertussen wordt het hotel gerenoveerd in fasen. “De zesde en zevende verdieping zullen tegen Pasen klaar zijn. Tegen het einde van het jaar volgen er nog twee verdiepingen en eind 2018 worden de laatste drie onder handen genomen”, aldus Eric Van Dalsum.
“We geloven ontzettend in de MICE-industrie. Het is een speerpunt van de toekomst, daarom investeren we in onze kamers om ze up-to-date te houden.” Ook in de stad Nice wordt geïnvesteerd voor de MICE-sector. Zo zijn er plannen om een nieuw congrescentrum te bouwen. “Nice kijkt vooruit”, stelt de GM. “Zo zijn er tevens plannen voor een tramway van de luchthaven naar het stadscentrum. Da’s belangrijk voor ons als hotel”, aldus nog Eric Van Dalsum.
