The building of ‘Handelsbeurs Antwerpen’ (Antwerp Trade Fair) is without a doubt a historic jewel in the Belgian heritage landscape. An excellent location for congresses, dinners, receptions, meetings and parties in an unparalleled and unique neo-gothic setting.

Impressive History

In 1531, trade is flourishing in Antwerp and the city is developing a central trade fair, which becomes ‘the mother of all stock exchanges’ … as the stock exchange of London and Amsterdam were also built after its example. The building of ‘Handelsbeurs Antwerpen’ has a dazzling history: circus, library, academy of fine arts, the first stock exchange, the cradle of the Chamber of Commerce, the St. Luke Guild, … Moreover, the building rises twice from its ashes. The new building was inaugurated in 1872. Tucked away in the historic heart of Antwerp, this phenomenal neo-gothic building boasts its floral adornments, a precursor to Art Nouveau, that captures heart and soul. The very first securities in Europe were traded here.
