BLCB, short for Belgian Limburg Convention Bureau, is a newcomer on the promo booth of VISITFLANDERS. Brand new actually, because this office opened its doors only last week. Perfect timing indeed to introduce BLCB to the international MICE industry via its presence on the promo booth of VISITFLANDERS.

“In recent years there has been much development in Limburg after the closure of the mines, the closure of Ford Genk, the closure of Philips in Hasselt,” says Tamara Weide, BLCB Meeting Industry Consultant. “The Flemish and Limburg government not only wants people back to work, but also a useful destination for those former industrial areas. Thus, you see developments such as the Thor Park and C-mine in Genk, the former Philips plant now renamed Corda Campus Hasselt. All perfect venues that may also be important for the meetings industry.”

The northernmost and southernmost cities in Limburg are 80km apart. The province is also home to 44 cities and municipalities. “Imagine a city like Hasselt or Genk trying individually to promote itself on the international market, that is a task hardly achievable. It was therefore decided to join forces and promote together the province of Limburg. Hence the creation of BLCB,” explains Tamara Weide.

“Our slogan is ‘Reinventing is our nature’. We are known for our nature and green environment, but we do not want people to see us just only for that. We have evolved from a manufacturing industry towards a knowledge & service industry with 10 great incubators where there is a lot of knowledge to be found. Thanks to this know-how it is interesting for companies or associations to be present in Limburg. Limburg is more than a green environment!”

“Onze slogan luidt ‘Reinventing is our nature’.
